Archaeological Action for YSSC!

York Survey’s Bob Wells has been out on the road again! This time he visited the village of North Duffield and Jon Kenny of York Archaeological Trust, who recently procured a Leica Builder to assist in his latest survey.
Jon purchased the instrument to enhance the Trust's existing survey equipment and York Survey offered a practical hands-on training session on site. This is was further enhanced with a copy of Applications in Cadd's software, n4ce Survey.
The York Archaeological Trust liases with local groups, such as the North Duffield History and Conservation Society, to build up a greater knowledge of the archaeology in and around York. Several finds have been made in the North Duffield area and a resistivity survey was performed on the Village Green where investigations are being carried out. The Leica Builder was used to provide an accurate survey of the area so the resistivity survey could then be overlaid for better analysis.
The data was processed through the n4ce software. n4ce Survey software covers all aspects of survey data capture, processing, editing and display.
It provides an integrated environment running harmoniously within Windows. As it is fully object orientated, n4ce follows many of the groundbreaking technologies in other tried and tested products from the manufacturer, adding innovative ideas.
"n4ce software is the ideal partner for the new Leica Builder range of instruments," says Bob Wells, YSSC’s technical advisor who handled the on-site training, "The Builder offers a range of angle accuracies and reflectorless ranges to meet your needs."
"Using the alpha-numeric keyboard you can enter a series of codes and attributes to ensure that each surveyed feature is assigned the correct layer, line style and/or symbol to reduce the amount of post-processing and editing."
